“What I think… Hmm. First of all, what exactly will you be doing there? I mean, it’s not going to be some slapstick act where you’re running around the stage dodging fists and bouncers, right? When they say ‘feature dancer,’ what exactly does that entail?”

“Okay, as your manager, I don’t see this appearance as a bad career move. It could actually be quite beneficial. However, we need to ensure that your role is clearly defined and dignified—no scenarios where you end up as the target for audience antics or anything less than professional. Destiny’s day began with an exciting flight to New York, followed by a limousine ride to Connecticut and straight to Jerry Springer’s studio in Stamford. Upon arrival, she was warmly greeted and introduced to the producer. “Alright, dancers, everyone gets a turn,” the coordinator called out as they began practicing their routines across the ramp and down the pole. “Nice job hitting that ‘V,’ Destiny!” I heard the coordinator shout, praising her precision. Destiny also managed a smooth champagne trick, adding flair to her performance. However, not everything went as smoothly for everyone; Tiny, the midget dancer, took a tumble. “Whoops!” echoed around the room, a mix of concern and mild amusement. “Okay, that’s it, folks,” the coordinator announced once everyone had their turn, “Pack it up and head back to the motel.”

The day raced by, and after the final taping, there was a sudden rush. I didn’t hear from Dez until she was practically being shuffled off to her plane at 7pm. She had just finished changing when the production team burst into the dressing room. “Let’s go!” they urged, echoing the urgency with a lighthearted nod to the old TV show catchphrase, “The plane, boss, the plane!” It was a whirlwind ending to a bustling day.
